![]() ![]() After the Neverworld Wake began and the five friends got stuck in their personal time-loop hell, I was absolutely hooked. The first couple chapters set up the characters and hint at the tragedy of Jim’s death, Beatrice’s high school boyfriend and the leader of her old group of rich, enigmatic friends. It suits Beatrice perfectly-a girl who writes lyrics for soundtracks to imagined movies. The narration is beautiful, drenched with startling imagery and told in intimate first person. ![]() I listened to it as an audiobook (sidenote: I’ve been slowly getting into them, as my migraines make it hard for me to read for long lengths of time). The language is what first drew me in as I started this novel. Even as I tore through it, I never wanted it to end. Neverworld Wake is a blend of contemporary, mystery, and sci-fi genres that will make you feel like your mind has been put through a blender-in the best way. ![]()
